Now, area residents have an opportunity to meet the three Republican contenders for the 14th District in person along with other candidates who are running for elected office in the upcoming 2008 primary races. The event, sponsored by the Kendall County Republican Candidate Support Committee, will begin at 7:00 p.m. Monday, October 15 at Ralph’s restaurant at Blackberry Oaks Golf Course at 2245 Kennedy Road in Bristol, Illinois. Scheduled speakers and introductions of the candidates will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Along with the 14th Congressional District, candidates running for the 50th and 84th Legislative Districts; the 42nd State Senate District; the Kendall County State’s Attorney, Coroner and Circuit Clerk seats; as well as Kendall County Board positions, will be on hand to share their thoughts with interested constituents within the affected districts.
CUB Chairman to be keynote speaker
The keynote speaker will be newly elected CUB Chairman Craig Neff. Neff, a resident of Northbrook, will be on hand to stress the importance of consumer advocacy and citizen action. Neff believes that understanding the future debates and legislative struggles, enable residents to work together and have a voice in calling for change, concessions and rewriting policy.
CUB is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that represents the interests of residential utility and small business customers in Illinois, and Neff will explain how CUB was formed, who comprises its Board, as well as describe its purpose and accomplishments and tell the attendees how the rate relief package will impact local residents.
The candidate night is a “meet and greet” format. The benefit of this format is that it allows attendees the opportunity to chat with the candidates in an informal, one-on-one manner and learn things about the candidate that they might not hear in a formal question and answer session. Candidates that have filed for any of the respective seats will be invited to the event. For more information, call 888-KCRCSC1 (888-527-2721).
